Mojolin is self-funded How we score

Apollo is our top pick: a free plan, a large contact database, email sequencing and calling in one tool make it the best starting point for most teams. If you want an AI agent that watches accounts for buying signals and drafts outreach for you, CapyScout is the best value at $29 a month. LinkedIn Sales Navigator remains worth its price for teams that prospect mainly on LinkedIn.

  1. Rank 1 · Best overall

    Apollo

An all-in-one sales platform with a B2B contact database, email sequencing, calling and AI features.

    apollo.io

    8.9

    out of 10

Best for: Startups and small sales teams that want prospecting data and outreach in one affordable tool.

Apollo is the default prospecting tool for a reason: it combines a large B2B database with the outreach tools to act on it. You can search by title, company and many filters, reveal emails and phone numbers with credits, and send email campaigns, which are included on every account, including the free one. Professional adds higher credit limits, AI features, call recording and advanced CRM integrations. Apollo says more than 600,000 companies use it.

There are rules worth knowing before you buy. Credits are pooled across the team and granted at the start of each cycle, but unused credits expire and do not roll over. Every seat on an account must be on the same plan, so you cannot mix Basic and Professional users. Free plans can only connect Gmail. Prices on the pricing page load interactively, so check them on the live page. For most teams starting outbound, Apollo is still the best value on this list.

    Standout feature

Email campaigns are included on every account, even the free plan, alongside a large contact database.

    Use cases

    • Founders

Build a target list and send a sequence on the free plan

Outcome: First outbound campaign at no cost

    • SDR teams

Find, call and email from one tool

      Outcome: Less switching between apps

    • RevOps

Sync contacts and activity to the CRM

      Outcome: Cleaner pipeline data

    Key features

    • Searchable B2B database of contacts and companies
    • Email campaigns and sequencing on every account
    • Call recording and AI features on Professional
    • Credits pooled across the team and granted upfront
    • CRM integrations, with advanced ones on higher plans

    Pros

    • Free plan is enough to test data and outreach
    • Database, sequencing and dialer in one place
    • Used by more than 600,000 companies, per Apollo

    Cons

    • Unused credits expire at the end of each billing cycle
    • All seats must be on the same plan
    • Free plans can only connect Gmail inboxes

    CapyScout

An AI prospecting agent that finds companies that fit, the right person and a reason to reach out now.

    capyscout.com

    8.4

    out of 10

Best for: Small B2B teams that want an AI agent to watch accounts for signals and draft outreach for review.

CapyScout works like a junior SDR. You describe who you sell to, or start from your website, and the agent finds companies that fit, the right person at each one and a reason to reach out now, such as a new VP of Sales hire. It drafts every email and LinkedIn message for you to review, and once you trust it, it can send them for you. It can also watch a list or your CRM for signals and alert you at the right moment.

Pricing is friendly to small teams. There are no per-user fees, plans start at $29 a month to watch up to 250 accounts, and you land on a free plan when the 7-day trial ends. Contacts are paid in credits, which CapyScout puts at about $0.13 for a title with a verified work email. The credit system has a learning curve, and daily account checks start on Growth at $119. For a founder or small team, it is the best value AI prospecting agent here.

    Standout feature

It finds a reason to reach out for each account and drafts the message, with no per-user fees from $29 a month.

    Use cases

    • SaaS teams

Reach companies that just hired a sales leader

      Outcome: Timely, relevant outreach

    • Agencies selling locally

Find businesses by rating and review count

      Outcome: Targeted local prospect lists

    • Founders

      Review AI-drafted emails before sending

Outcome: Outbound without writing every message

    Key features

    • Finds companies, decision makers and a reason to reach out now
    • Drafts email, call and LinkedIn messages for review
    • Watches accounts or your CRM for buying signals
    • Integrations with HubSpot, Pipedrive, Attio, Gmail, Outlook and Slack
    • API, webhooks, MCP server and Chrome extension

    Pros

    • Low entry price with no per-user fees
    • You approve messages until you trust the agent to send
    • Works for local businesses as well as SaaS targets

    Cons

    • Credit math per contact takes time to learn
    • Daily account checks start on the $119 Growth plan
  3. Rank 3 · Also great

    Snov.io

A prospecting and cold outreach platform with email finder, verifier, warm-up and multichannel campaigns.

    snov.io

    8.3

    out of 10

Best for: Small teams that want email finding and cold email campaigns in one budget tool.

Snov.io bundles prospecting and cold email into one affordable tool. Credits pay for prospect searches, email searches and verifications, and the same subscription runs multichannel campaigns with unlimited follow-ups and email warm-up. Starter costs $39 a month, or $29.25 billed annually, and includes 1,000 credits, 5,000 recipients, 75 enrichment tokens and three warm-up mailboxes, with unlimited team seats.

The pricing has several moving parts: credits for finding and verifying, recipients for people you contact, and tokens for enrichment, which makes forecasting harder than with a simple per-contact price. LinkedIn automation is a separate $69 a month per account. Snov.io's database is not as deep as Apollo's, but for a small team that wants to find emails, verify them and run campaigns without paying per seat, it is a strong value.

    Standout feature

Paid plans include unlimited team seats, with prospecting, verification and campaigns in one bill.

    Use cases

    • Small agencies

Find and verify emails before a campaign

      Outcome: Fewer bounces

    • Startups

Run cold email sequences with warm-up

      Outcome: Better inbox placement

    • Teams with many users

Share one plan across the team

      Outcome: No per-seat costs

    Key features

    • Email finder, prospect search and email verification
    • Multichannel campaigns with unlimited follow-ups
    • Email warm-up for multiple mailboxes
    • Phone and data enrichment with tokens
    • MCP access for Claude and ChatGPT

    Pros

    • Unlimited team seats on paid plans
    • Prospecting and outreach in one subscription
    • Free plan to try it

    Cons

    • LinkedIn automation slots cost $69 per month each
    • Several unit types (credits, recipients, tokens) to track
  4. Rank 4

    Lusha

A B2B contact and company data platform with a browser extension, CRM integrations and buying signals.

    lusha.com

    8.2

    out of 10

Best for: Reps who want to reveal emails and phone numbers quickly from LinkedIn or their CRM.

Lusha is the quickest way for a rep to get an email or phone number while browsing. Its browser extension works on LinkedIn and company websites, and the data syncs to your CRM. Lusha also offers company data, dated buying signals and an API for workflows and AI agents. The company says more than 280,000 revenue teams use it.

Pricing is credit-based: revealing a verified email costs 1 credit and a phone number costs 5. The free plan includes up to 40 credits a month plus the extension and CRM integrations, enough for a light test. Teams that mostly call will burn through credits faster, so estimate phone reveals before choosing a plan. Lusha is less of an all-in-one than Apollo, with no built-in sequencing, but it is easier to pick up and works well beside an existing outreach tool.

    Standout feature

The browser extension makes it one of the fastest ways to get a verified email or phone number while on LinkedIn.

    Use cases

    • Account executives

Reveal a prospect's phone from LinkedIn

      Outcome: Direct call in seconds

    • Sales ops

      Push contacts into the CRM

      Outcome: No manual data entry

    • AI agent builders

Pull contact data through the API

Outcome: Fresh data in automated workflows

    Key features

    • Verified emails and phone numbers
    • Browser extension for LinkedIn and websites
    • CRM integrations
    • Company data and dated buying signals
    • API access for workflows and AI agents

    Pros

    • Very fast to use from the browser extension
    • Free plan with monthly credits
    • Trusted by 280,000+ revenue teams, per Lusha

    Cons

    • Phone numbers cost 5 credits each
    • Credits can run out quickly for calling-heavy teams
  5. Rank 5

    RocketReach

A contact database with verified emails and phone numbers, exports, integrations and API access.

    rocketreach.co

    8.2

    out of 10

Best for: Recruiters and sales pros who need verified personal and work contact details at a set yearly price.

RocketReach is a long-standing contact database used by both sales teams and recruiters. Every plan includes unlimited verified personal and professional emails plus MCP and API access, and the Pro plan adds unlimited verified mobile and direct phone numbers, technographics, news and org charts, and integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, Salesloft and Bullhorn. Autopilot jobs keep running searches in the background.

The main limits are exports and phones. Essentials at $33 a month, billed annually at $399, is email only and allows 1,200 exports a year; Pro at $899 a year raises that to 3,600 and adds phone numbers. Annual billing roughly halves the cost compared with monthly. RocketReach does not include outreach like Apollo, so pair it with a sequencer, but for steady, verified lookups it is solid value.

    Standout feature

Unlimited verified email lookups and API access are included even on the cheapest plan.

    Use cases

    • Recruiters

Find candidate contacts and push to Bullhorn

      Outcome: Faster outreach to candidates

    • Sales reps

Look up direct dials on Pro

      Outcome: More connected calls

    • Developers

Query contacts through the API or MCP

      Outcome: Data inside custom tools

    Key features

    • Unlimited verified personal and professional emails
    • Verified mobile and direct phone numbers from Pro
    • Technographics, news and org charts on Pro
    • Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, Salesloft and Bullhorn integrations
    • MCP and API access on every plan

    Pros

    • Unlimited email lookups on all plans
    • Annual billing halves the price
    • Bullhorn integration suits recruiters

    Cons

    • Phone numbers need the Pro plan
    • Exports are capped per year
  6. Rank 6

    SignalVan

Signal-first prospecting that finds companies showing they are ready to buy and hands you verified contacts.

    signalvan.com

    8.2

    out of 10

Best for: Founders looking for their first paying customers without building a sales team.

SignalVan starts from your website and looks for companies already showing they need what you sell: hiring for the role you sell to, raising money or asking on LinkedIn for exactly your service. It ranks them, finds the decision maker's verified contact details and writes a first line, and you reach out by email or phone. The first ranked list is free, with no card, and appears in about five minutes.

There are no seats or subscriptions. You buy credits with a slider, for example 1,000 credits for $40, and the whole team draws from one balance. Credits pay for lead searches, contact details, mobile numbers, chatting with the agent and reading your documents, and you see an estimate before each search. Integrations are early, with Smartlead sending and Excel export today, so it suits founders more than large teams with complex stacks.

    Standout feature

It finds buyers from live signals like hiring and funding and gives you the first ranked list free.

    Use cases

    • Pre-revenue founders

Find companies hiring for the role you sell to

Outcome: First sales conversations this week

    • Small agencies

Spot LinkedIn posts asking for their service

Outcome: Warm leads instead of cold lists

    • Lean teams

      Share one credit balance

      Outcome: No per-seat cost

    Key features

    • AI agents search for hiring, funding and LinkedIn buying signals
    • Verified contact details for decision makers
    • Drafts the first line of outreach
    • Sends through Smartlead and exports to Excel
    • Credits shared across the whole team

    Pros

    • First ranked list is free with no card
    • No seats or subscriptions, only credits
    • Shows the price before you pay

    Cons

    • Outreach integrations are limited for now
    • Credits are spent on searches and chats as well as contacts
  7. Rank 7

    LinkedIn Sales Navigator

LinkedIn's prospecting tool with advanced search, lead lists and InMail on the world's largest professional network.

    linkedin.com

    8.1

    out of 10

Best for: Sales teams that prospect and build relationships mainly on LinkedIn.

Sales Navigator is still the best way to research people on LinkedIn. Its search filters go well beyond LinkedIn's free search, and saved leads and accounts trigger alerts when someone changes jobs, posts or engages, which gives reps a natural reason to get in touch. InMail lets you message people outside your network, and Advanced adds team features for sharing and coordinating.

It is also the priciest per seat of the database-style tools here. Core starts at $119.99 a month or $1,079.88 a year, Advanced at $159.99 a month, and CRM integrations need the custom-priced Advanced Plus. Sales Navigator does not give you email addresses or phone numbers, so most teams pair it with Lusha, Apollo or RocketReach. If LinkedIn is where your buyers are active, it pays for itself; if not, Apollo covers more ground for less.

    Standout feature

Lead alerts on job changes and posts come straight from LinkedIn, the source other databases copy.

    Use cases

    • Enterprise AEs

Map buying committees at target accounts

      Outcome: Multi-threaded deals

    • Social sellers

Track posts and job changes from saved leads

      Outcome: Timely, personal outreach

    • Sales teams

      Share lead lists on Advanced

      Outcome: Less overlap between reps

    Key features

    • Advanced lead and account search on LinkedIn data
    • Saved lead lists and alerts on job changes and activity
    • InMail messages to people outside your network
    • Team features on Advanced
    • CRM integrations on Advanced Plus

    Pros

    • Data comes straight from LinkedIn profiles
    • Alerts on job changes and posts give natural reasons to reach out
    • Free trial for eligible members

    Cons

    • Expensive per seat compared with database tools
    • No email addresses or phone numbers included
    • CRM sync requires Advanced Plus
  8. Rank 8

    AdvertiserLeads

Finds ecommerce brands by what their Meta ads are doing: starting, scaling or stopping.

    advertiserleads.com

    7.9

    out of 10

Best for: Agencies, lenders and SaaS teams that sell to Shopify and ecommerce brands running ads.

AdvertiserLeads does one thing: it tracks what ecommerce brands are doing with their ads and turns that into leads. You can see Shopify stores that just started, scaled or stopped Meta ads, filter by niche, and get alerts when new brands match. For an agency, a lender or a SaaS tool that sells to ecommerce, a brand that just doubled its ad spend is a far better lead than a random store.

The free plan shows a masked live feed with 10 reveals a month and one weekly alert. Starter at $49 unmasks every brand in one niche with daily alerts and CSV export; Pro at $99, or $49 for founding members, adds full ad history and three niches; Agency at $249 covers all niches with API access and three seats. It is narrow by design, and CRM integrations are still listed as coming, but for ecommerce-focused sellers the signal is very relevant.

    Standout feature

It turns Meta ad activity, such as a brand starting or scaling ads, into a daily lead feed.

    Use cases

    • Performance agencies

Pitch brands that just scaled ads

Outcome: Outreach to brands with budget

    • Ecommerce lenders

Spot fast-growing stores by ad spend

      Outcome: Better-qualified loan leads

    • Shopify app makers

Watch a niche with daily alerts

Outcome: Steady flow of new targets

    Key features

    • Live feed of stores that started, scaled or stopped ads
    • Filters by niche and signal
    • Daily alerts by email, Slack or webhook
    • CSV export and API on Agency
    • Free Ad Library scraper and brand lookup tools

    Pros

    • Ad activity is a clear buying signal for ecommerce services
    • Free plan with 10 brand reveals a month
    • MCP server and API for use in Claude or your stack

    Cons

    • Narrow focus on ecommerce brands running Meta ads
    • CRM integrations are listed as coming
  9. Rank 9

    UpLead

A B2B contact database with verified emails, mobile direct dials and broad CRM integrations.

    uplead.com

    7.9

    out of 10

Best for: Small sales teams that want verified emails and mobile numbers with simple per-contact credits.

UpLead keeps prospecting data simple: one credit reveals one contact, with both a verified email and a mobile direct dial. UpLead states a 95% accuracy rate for its email verification, offers a Chrome extension for LinkedIn and websites, and connects to Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, Pipedrive, Outreach, Salesloft and many more, plus 1,500 apps through Zapier.

The value depends on how you buy. Essentials is $99 a month for 170 credits on monthly billing, but the annual plan is $74 a month and includes 2,040 credits up front. The trial only gives you 5 credits, which is not much to judge data quality. UpLead does not include outreach tools, so it sits beside a sequencer. For teams that call as much as they email, the bundled mobile numbers are its strongest point.

    Standout feature

Each credit reveals both a verified email and a mobile direct dial for the same contact.

    Use cases

    • Inside sales reps

Reveal emails and mobiles with one credit

Outcome: Call and email the same lead

    • Sales ops

      Export lists to the CRM

Outcome: Clean records in Salesforce or HubSpot

    • Small teams

Prospect from LinkedIn with the extension

Outcome: Contacts without leaving the browser

    Key features

    • Verified emails with a stated 95% accuracy rate
    • Mobile direct dials on every plan
    • Chrome extension for LinkedIn and websites
    • Integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive and more
    • 1,500+ apps through Zapier

    Pros

    • One credit reveals a contact's email and mobile number
    • Simple to search and export
    • Long list of CRM and sequencer integrations

    Cons

    • 170 monthly credits on Essentials is small
    • Free trial only includes 5 credits
  10. Rank 10

    PitchSmart

Builds a research-backed plan for every lead from buying signals, filings and news.

    pitchsmart.io

    7.8

    out of 10

Best for: Account executives who need deep research and talking points on each account, not bigger lists.

PitchSmart is about depth rather than volume. You upload a list and describe what you sell, and it researches each account to build a plan: what the company is spending on, which signals in filings and news matter, and how to open the conversation. Its sample plan cites a specific figure from a public filing and turns it into a question, which is the kind of homework reps rarely have time to do. It also drafts emails and lets you practice the conversation.

Every workspace starts with 200 free tokens, about 20 researched accounts, with no card. Starter is $39 a month billed annually for 100 contacts and about 200 account researches, Professional is $119 for 250 contacts and five products, and Enterprise is $399. It is not a list builder, so pair it with Apollo or Sales Navigator, but for AEs working a set of named accounts it adds real preparation.

    Standout feature

It turns public filings and news into a specific plan and opening question for each lead.

    Use cases

    • Enterprise AEs

      Research named accounts before outreach

      Outcome: Specific, credible first messages

    • Account managers

Map cross-sell opportunities in the customer base

      Outcome: More expansion conversations

    • New reps

      Practice calls with conversation practice

      Outcome: More confident first meetings

    Key features

    • Customer and prospect research for each lead
    • A sales plan built from signals in filings and news
    • AI email drafts
    • Conversation practice before calls
    • Find similar contacts

    Pros

    • 200 free tokens, about 20 researched accounts, with no card
    • Research is specific, citing figures from filings
    • Useful for cross-selling into existing customers

    Cons

    • Lower contact volumes than database tools
    • Paid plans are priced for annual billing

Buying guide

How to choose

Decide between a database and signals

Classic prospecting tools like Apollo, Lusha, RocketReach and UpLead give you a searchable database of contacts. Signal-based tools like SignalVan, CapyScout and AdvertiserLeads watch for events, such as hiring, funding, new ad campaigns or LinkedIn posts, that suggest a company is ready to buy. Many teams use one of each.

Count credits, not just seats

Most tools charge in credits per revealed email or phone number. Lusha charges 1 credit for an email and 5 for a phone number, and UpLead charges 1 credit per contact. Work out how many new contacts you need each month before comparing headline prices.

Check phone number coverage

If your team cold calls, mobile and direct dial numbers matter more than emails. RocketReach only includes phone numbers from its Pro plan, and UpLead includes mobile direct dials on every plan. Test the data on a list of your own target accounts during the trial.

Look at what happens after you find a lead

Some tools stop at the contact; others also write and send the outreach. Apollo, Snov.io and CapyScout include email sequencing or drafted campaigns, while Sales Navigator and RocketReach mostly hand data to your CRM or sequencer. Fewer tools means fewer exports and less copy and paste.

Mind data rules in your market

Contact data tools sit under privacy rules like GDPR and CAN-SPAM. Prefer vendors that verify emails, show sources for their signals and let you honor opt-outs, especially if you sell into Europe.

Frequently asked questions

+What is a sales prospecting tool?

It helps you find companies and people who fit your ideal customer, get their contact details and decide when to reach out. Some tools are contact databases, others watch for buying signals, and many also send outreach.

+What is buyer intent data?

Buyer intent data is a signal that a company may be ready to buy, such as hiring for a role, raising money, posting about a problem on LinkedIn or changing its ad spend. SignalVan, CapyScout and AdvertiserLeads are built around these signals.

+What is the best free prospecting tool?

Apollo has the most capable free plan, with database access and email campaigns. Lusha's free plan gives up to 40 credits a month, AdvertiserLeads gives 10 brand reveals, and SignalVan's first ranked list is free.

+Is LinkedIn Sales Navigator worth it?

It is worth it if your buyers are active on LinkedIn and your reps prospect there daily. At $119.99 a month per seat it is expensive, and it does not include emails or phone numbers, so most teams add a data tool too.

+How accurate is B2B contact data?

No database is fully accurate because people change jobs constantly. Prefer tools that verify emails before you send, test each vendor on a list of your own target accounts, and watch bounce rates in your first campaigns.

+Do I need a separate tool to send emails?

Not always. Apollo and Snov.io include email campaigns, and CapyScout drafts and can send messages. Lusha, RocketReach, UpLead and Sales Navigator mostly provide data, so you will need a sequencer or CRM for outreach.
