[demo] 30 Beryl effects on Linux Ubuntu Edgy Eft (pt.1)

by admin on February 4, 2010

Demonstration of the 3D desktop under Linux Ubuntu Edgy Eft 6.1.0. The demo features a total of 30 effects, but there are plenty more! Part 1: Translucent windows Switching between windows from current workspace Switching between windows from all workspaces Scaling all workspaces Scaling current workspace Switching to desktop of current cube face Switching desktops on cube Sending the active window to the left/right workspace Rotating the cube manually Rotating the cube manually with 3D effects Zooming in/out Moving windows (without resizing first) Resizing windows Mouse pointer moving on water Rain falling on screen Note: Many of these effects might be seen as pure “eye candy”. However, some of them like the scaling function (which is the linux adequate of macos’s Exposé function) will speed up your everyday work. Go to beryl-project.org for more info. Watch part 2 of the demo here: www.youtube.com

You got the nerve to come on here and spout your bullshit and then tell me to not be offensive? Fuck off, kid!

viking1au February 4, 2010 at 3:11 pm

Na, I found it, heard 2 bars & pissed it off fast. — All it deserves! — Learn not to be so offensive.

EdgyRootStudios February 4, 2010 at 3:11 pm

Yet you feel the need to go to these videos and comment? Interesting..

viking1au February 4, 2010 at 3:11 pm

Nothing funny; or failure to be. — Some of you guys absolutely insist on boring people shitless with crap music instead of, say, quality narration. — That’s o.k. –People like me who find some of this music offensive simply turn off and watch something else.

EdgyRootStudios February 4, 2010 at 3:11 pm

What’s with the failing to be funny comment?

viking1au February 4, 2010 at 3:11 pm

What’s with the jungle bunny shit music?

EdgyRootStudios February 4, 2010 at 3:11 pm

That’s why I’m using a dual-boot system: Linux for working and Windows for gaming. ;-)

DrSpideybug February 4, 2010 at 3:11 pm

Wow, looks like MS just took many of these neat effects and included them in Windows 7!

The cube feature is very similar to what I imagined MS was going to do with the promised “3D” effects that were supposed to be in Vista/7. Instead, all we got was the lame “flip 3D”, which I have NEVER used in practice to this day. Alt+Tab still does the job well! :P

My balls tell me to switch to Ubuntu, but alas, I am a gamer, and thus the shackles of Windows will remain on me for years to come. :(

holdondota February 4, 2010 at 3:11 pm

Actually, i think crysis drops 1/2 fps on ubuntu, but then, if u don’t play that kind of games ubuntu is a very good SO, It has no sense to compare it with windows, windows is a commercial SO, to people who are not interested in how micro$oft works. Ubuntu is free, windows not, all programs in ubuntu with one line u can install it, in windows u have to pay. in windows, if u don’t have antivirus, in 20 days maybe ur PC is completely virused, in ubuntu not.
SO stop comparing each other
