I don’t know if it will work with Virtual Box, but with VMware workstation it works, you can run Win7 over WinXP with that, and in VMware Workstation aero works.

Very true. Like iTunes, for example… I can’t even get it to run through WINE. I still dual boot just for iTunes.

For some Windows software there are no Linux equivalents.

i REALY want a xp virtual pc. cause i test viruses

rudeplatypus December 21, 2009 at 7:57 am

Well, considering i have never heard of someone getting a virus on linux, i believe not. But, if by some far streched scheme, linux DOES get a virus…..Probably not, since even if you used wubi to install in windows, they are in different partitions, and one partition can’t access another’s files.

ThePcTrickster December 21, 2009 at 7:57 am

YES, IT IS, But Some people find it pointless to virtualize something you’re already running, however, I don’t.

dalethomasdewitt December 21, 2009 at 7:57 am

I got mine from a dell installation disk. The keys have to be valid

dalethomasdewitt December 21, 2009 at 7:57 am

Yes. I’ve two dells. One for development using the system disk that came with the one service call I had when the computer was young. Slip in in the cdrom and it fits like a glove. Keys have to be valid of course. I got mine from an Indian call center. Seeing and it wasn’t even attached to bare metal. I talked for a while and he just gave it to me.

is it possible to have an xp computer and run xp on a virtual machine?

Genshyu December 21, 2009 at 7:57 am

I wish I could do this as if it were a real XP. Not just full screen but full use of my gfx card too :O

007man033 December 21, 2009 at 7:57 am

Where can I get the windows XP ISO?

HiBitDrifter December 21, 2009 at 7:57 am

@HeeyMusic: Yeah, and that’s an ideal way to learn Linux since you can blow it (Linux client) to Hell and not care if you’ve got a backup/snapshot.
